Judge India Graves

India Graves

India Graves comes to you with twenty-plus years of promotional and marketing experience.  She began her music industry career in the late 70’s with a local Washington, D.C. independent promotions company.

She was hired by Arista Records in 1980 and worked the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Southeast regions
respectively.  While at Arista, she worked with such greats as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Tony Braxton
to name a few.

In 1986, a company new to America was starting up, and hired her away from Arista as their Southeast Representative.  There were only twelve employees at Virgin Records then.  India took on more responsibilities including National Director of Promotions as Virgin began to grow.  She worked closely with major Virgin acts:  Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Scarface, Shaggy, Maxi Priest, After 7, Boy George and Lenny Kravitz.

In 2000, she was invited back into the BMG family, first with RCA Records then, as a result of downsizing, was brought back to Arista.  Between the two companies she has worked with the virtual Who’s Who in the music industry.  Some include LA Reid, Baby Face, Tyrese, Usher, Outkast, Youngbloodz, Ceelo, Santana and Jermaine Dupri.  In 2004
Arista closed its doors and after taking some time off, India rejoined LA Reid, Jay-Z and many of her previous Arista
co-workers at Island Def Jam.

India is featured in the 2004 issue of Who’s Who In Black Atlanta in recognition of her considerable contributions to the music industry and community service.

In 2004 she founded Media Connections! A marketing and promotions company that is designed to consult new
music companies as well as artists just starting out who have a lot of promise but need some guidance in this very specialized business of music where “Who you know” is almost more important that “What you know”.

Along with her business partner, Jackie Thomas, India created Shared Blessings a not for profit organization set up to help those in need.  People in challenged situations are provided with clothing suitable for job interviews as well as instruction in interview skills.

Currently India is the Vice President of Promotions and Marketing at Mizay Entertainment, a management/record label. She was instrumental in the musical success of Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj,  Waka Flocka Flame, OJ Da Juiceman and many up-in-coming artists that you will soon hear about.
